u should add the feature of saving the pics and not jsut the competion ones.... (not the feature but u know how u put ur mouse on the pic and the liklte menu pops up..) i could have sworn in the past u had it but sumthing tells me u took it off...

Thanks for putting a posting of me up on your site, look great!
I had a blast at the show(for my first one) and looking forward to Provincal's.
The pic's posted from Femsport was actually the fist Fitness acitvity I had done in almost a year due to a torn legimnet in my lower back. I also had a pretty bad car accident about 4-5 weeks out from the show with some major brusing and cuts. I had to take about a week off of training and was not even sure I would be able to get on stage.

Hello my name is James and I'am a big fan of women bodybuilders from Canada. I definitely feel like women do not get the respect that they deserve. In this male dominated sport the women find it hard to be accepted. Since the 80's this sport has gone thru its ups and downs. The biggest tragedy that this sport has indured was the unexpected death of legendary female bodybuilder Kay Baxter. Ever since her untimely death some people thought that this sport would never survive. In the 90's the sport of women's bodybuilding went thru another transformation right after Cory Everson retired from the sport. Some women recieve critically acclaim while others still struggled to be accepted. Lenda Murray carried the torch and she did it her way. She went on to solidtify herself as one of the top female bodybuilders of the 90's

You have a fabulous website! The Pacific Northwest has the best women bodybuilders! Audra Kimsey is on her way to becoming an IFBB Pro and a future Ms. Olympia. The Emerald Cup is my favorite competition. I remember such Pacific Northwest bodybuilders as Shelley Beattie, Charmaine LaChappelle, Nikki Fuller, Sheila Bleck, and Michele Burdick as well as countless others placing at the top of National competitions. The website also has a wonderful archive of past Northwest competitions and features great bodybuilders of the past. Keep up the great work.

Wow! How crazy to see the pictures from the old days. Your photographs are beautiful. We were just talking about the days of four on/one off, chicken breasts, egg whites and distilled water and then found your site with my pictures on there. I competed one more year after that... seven years of bodybuilding and powerlifting. Now I just do "girly workouts". Too bad I don't look like that anymore. Now I wear a suit to work. :)

Hello there: I'm writing today...to see if I can contact some old bodybuilders back from 1984-1988.

I started working out at Olympic Fitness on Broadway St.
in 1984-'85. That is the time when Mike Hamil was the owner. (He eventually had 4 locations opened). I met Carla Temple several times... (in the gym and at the PNE)

I worked for Bill Calderwood in all 4 locations of "Vancouver Health Foods"/ Vitamin Experts. Mainly in the
4th Ave. location.

My cousin " Growing V. Aware"/Hank Gretchen was a long time member at Olympic...(It's sad he was killed back in November 1989) He was a Legend in the bodybuilding world.
(Nobody would ever be the same without him)

If anyone out there knows any of these people...and remembers this time...please contact me...

As Iam documenting my time in Vancouver back then.

Amazing things have happened to me since then...

Instead of staying with the bodybuilding scene...I became a groupie...

It's a pretty good site. Many of the links are in-op, however. Maybe you can update them. The only part I don't care for is in the picture descriptions, where you don't use correct grammer or punctuation. In several cases a simple "I" would make all the difference. You don't save or loose much time with one key stroke.

I am a 32 yr old woman who has been workingout off and on for awhile but as of 3 months ago I decided to go with my dream and get into bodybuilding. I have a trainer that I work with 3xs a wk, the other 2 days I go by myself. He is getting me ready for competitions but for only doing it for 3mths seriously it is amazing how much I've changed, it is very hard to do as far as giving up foods I love. But its worth it and I am very excited to see what I look like in three more mths. Seeing the pictures in this website encourages me to keep going. Thank You.

cool pics In June I competed in the Jr nationals and took second in the middle weight class. I had a lot of fun I've been competing for 15 years about every two years in the past I competed as lightweight but the juniors I was a middleweight. I look healthier as a middleweight but I'm still on the smaller side of the middleweight class. Im trying to get a little more exposure but kind of hard in a small town. Has your web site went well? Hi David!

Thanks so much for putting in those pictures of me at the 2002 Capitol City Show. It was a great experience trying the body builing show. I hadn't been planning on it, but when the opportunity came I decided to go for it. I normally train & prepare for my fitness competitons further out so I come in leaner. I didn't train as hard for this one. I just wanted to try a body building show to see what it is like. It's hard work for either sport, fitness or body building. My sister Shannon Gill is always a great supporter. I can't wait to see her up on stage again. She's a great entertainer.
Anyway, thanks again for putting up my pictures and thanks for a wonderful sight to go to and get all the info and picture on the shows.

Female bodybuilding fans that have met on the net have always asked me if I had pics on the web that they could see and up until now I had to say no. That is until two weeks ago when a very good friend of mine(I met him on the net too)stumbled across your site.....a very good one by the way. I remember posing for these pics but I never got to see them. Thank you! What's more is that I can't believe someone asked for my pics specifically!
I've gotten ready for a few shows after that last one in '95, but never got to do them(financial reasons, work, school, etc.) If all goes well I intend to make it to the Nationals this year and if you like I'll send you the pics.

Thanks for an excellent, huge and free web-site. The photos have improved in quality over the years; better technology/ film? Really like the historical aspect, I had forgotten completely about Debbie Sider, and great to see some photos of Carla Temple, who was popular when I lived in Vancouver. I also like your reminiscences from early days of FBB. I also like the larger format for photos. The only criticism is that it would be nice to see more complete shots of the women (the calves and ankles are often neglected), though I realise live shoots probably have their limitations, what with spectator heads, stage paraphernalia, etc.

This is all new to me. I happened to catch the bodybuilding show on TSN and got very fired up. I entered the website for NaturalSports but that all seems to be Toronto so I thought I would try to find a BC site. The next day, really, our local paper carried an article about Melanie Masny so I am trying this site. So far I am impressed - I never realized the extent of bobybuilding/fitness for women.
I am not terribly interested in the advanced bodybuilding event but rather in fitness, model search, and whatever else may apply. I am quite fit, maybe should lose about 10 pounds and have a very athletic body/frame.
Please tell me what to do, where to go, who I contact, etc. Any information you can provide would be appreciated. I live in Ashcroft (near Kamloops) but come to the coast every two weeks for a few days.

I have taken the lat 8-days off - concentrated on artwork. I wish I could go to the Emerald this weekend. I hope you'll see a good show!

I have to tell you I just happened to come across this site and it is awsome! I am so impressed!!! I just competed in the 2001 Vancouver Natural Fitness classic and placed 2nd in the tall division. The pictures that you took of me turned out better than any of the pictures I had taken..... Is there any way I can purchase some of the negatives? I will also be competing again in Salem, Oregon next weekend for the Oregon State Championship. Any chance you'll be there too? Looking forward to meeting you....

Aaahhh!!!!! I can't beleive that you used such an unflattering picture of me! My big butt looks twice as huge as normal!
But, I have to say, your site looks fabulous!!! Keep up the excellent work! It is one of the best Bodybuilding Pictorials on the Web!!! I am no longer Bodybuilding, since it was only a temporarily thing, as I was recovering from a Huge Glute/Ham injury from Powerlifting. Yes, I am actually a Powerlifter, and have achieved: 275lb Squat, 175lb Bench and a 303lb Deadlift!
(This is why I have such a big ass!) The nicest thing about Powerlifting is No Dieting and No Cardio...Whoo Hoo!! If you have any other pics of me, I'd be happy to purchase them. (1998 BC Provincials)

Good Day!
By chance I found your website - and it was perfect timing! I am getting ready for the Vancouver Natural Classic 2001 contest. Frank Bohm talked me into it! I don't have any real suggestions for your site, except to thank that it exists. During a work day its nice to know that online are some good pics to inspire me to work smarter (and harder) in the gym. One question: Any plans on being at this years Vancouver Natural? Would be cool if you are planning to cover that contest. My boyfriend and I do have a digital camera and he plans on using it there. Could always email you some pics, if you are interested.
I won the middleweight class at the '96 Northwest Naturals and placed second a week later in the same class at the Washington Ironman. So, this contest will be my first in 4 years! Egads!

Great site; Just found it by accident when I was looking for the BCABBA website -- which I haven't been able to access for some time now!
I was a competitor in the Canadians 2000 in Calgary -- women's heavyweights (last and smallest!) and placed third of seven in Masters. The Canadians marked my 4th contest in 10 months (I only began competing in November 1999). I started weight training 5 years ago from a level of 245 pounds of obesity and have come a long way -- especially considering I am 46 years of age. I will definitely be competing at the North Americans this year and possibly the Canadians again. I have a fabulous "dream team" of trainers for my contest preparation this year, including: Desiree Ellis, IFBB Pro (Vancouver); Scott Abel (Toronto); Brad and TL Bartch (NBF Pro) (Kelowna); Russ Testo (New York: choreography). I have some little pics posted on a couple of websites currently, with more "in progress" to follow. I fogot(I think it was nerves) to have the photograper take some pictures so the only ones I have are one's my Mom took from the audience. You've got a really good start with this site. Nice new and original material for a change by someone. Only criticism I would have is you might want to crop the edges better on the pictures in Photoshop (or whatever program you are scanning with.) Maybe even add a small border to make them look more professional. BTW - Planning any of Sharon Bruneau, Melissa Coates or Cathy LeFrancois in the near future?
